Make your life better and happier in your 50s? I wrestled with this question as turning 50 dealt me a major blow. The weight of the number and years lived overwhelmed me, and I grappled with the idea of bidding farewell to my youth, stepping into what’s often deemed the ‘golden years.’
Instead of seeing a vibrant future, my mind conjured images of me as a character in the Golden Girls. That image was not what I aspired to – I craved more life, enhanced health, and certainly, a better wardrobe than Dorothy and Rose.
Yet, amid moments of introspection and deep breaths, I came to a profound realisation: I have the power to shape the life I desire. With a few adjustments to my lifestyle, I can rewrite the script of my journey, turning this chapter into a tale of renewed vitality, continued growth, and yes, style that mirrors the vibrant spirit within.

Limit exposure to negative influences, whether it’s news, the internet, people, or environments. Cultivate relationships with individuals who uplift and support you.

Mindfulness, the practice of being present in the moment, has proven benefits for stress reduction and mental well-being. So we all know less stress means a happier you. Do as much as you can when you can to practice mindfulness and you will see positive effects.
Explore guided meditation apps or classes designed for beginners. Incorporate positive affirmations into daily routines to reinforce self-belief. Repeat affirmations related to confidence, resilience, and success. there are so many mindfulness apps as well out there.
I like using Calm for my morning and evening meitation. Breathing excercises are also useful. Have you tried the Wim Hof Method? I found him through Gwnyth’s Paltrows Netflix series Goop Lab and was hooked.
